About Maricar Bella Films

My journey into filmmaking began in college, during an 'Aesthetics of Film' class. I was immediately captivated by how visual and auditory elements intertwined to create compelling stories. I became fascinated with the director's role, wondering how they translated written words into a visual narrative.

After a stint in corporate finance, I took a sabbatical to explore my creative side. This led me to an intensive year-long theatre program where I discovered the magic of directing on stage. I fell in love with the process, especially watching actors discover their characters and bring their own stories to life.

For the next 15 years, I focused on raising my family. But my creative spark never fully dimmed. As my children grew, I felt a strong pull to revisit my artistic passions, this time through filmmaking. I wanted to tell stories from a woman's perspective, drawing on my own experiences.

My life has been a rich tapestry: traveling the world, experiencing the joys and challenges of motherhood, and deepening my understanding of myself through yoga and meditation. These experiences have given me a profound understanding of the human condition, which I now strive to reflect in my films.
